Uno dei siti archeologici più affascinanti e misteriosi di Porto Torres, la necropoli di Su Crucifissu Mannu si trova su una collina calcarea di circa due ettari e comprende ventidue sepolture ipogeiche realizzate durante il Neolitico e riutilizzate fino all’Età del Bronzo.
Sorprendenti decorazioni taurine dotate di corna a mezzaluna e importanti ritrovamenti archeologici, come idoli in pietra della Dea Madre e due crani trapanati, sono solo alcuni dei segreti da scoprire a pochi chilometri dal centro cittadino.
One of the most fascinating and mysterious sites of Porto Torres, the necropolis of Su Crucifissu Mannu is a complex of domus de janas dug out of a bank of limestone rock. The construction began in the late Neolithic period and the twenty-two tombs, that have been found so far, were used and reused until the Bronze Age. During the archaeological excavations, two drilled skulls have been found, together with a few mother goddess stone idols. All decorations of this complex maze are surprisingly captivating, including bull's heads with crescent - shaped horns carved on the walls.
